ABC-Amega History and Milestones

ABC-Amega's precursor, the American Bureau of Collections, was founded in 1929 in Buffalo, New York to provide third-party commercial debt collection for U.S. and Canadian creditors. From its origins as a one-man operation, the company has grown into a world-class receivable management firm supporting thousands of small to multinational clients worldwide.

  • 1929 - American Bureau of Collections founded in Buffalo, New York
  • 1960 - Expanded services into foreign markets
  • 1965 - Established Credit Information division
  • 1975 - Joined Commercial Collection Agency Association of the CLLA
  • 1983 -  Received U.S. President's "E" Award for outstanding export service
  • 1989 - Introduced SoftCall receivable portfolio management service
  • 1990 -  Received U.S. President's "E Star" Award for outstanding foreign marketing
  • 2000 - Established office in Shanghai, China
  • 2001 - Launched Amega Group subsidiary providing accounts receivable business process outsourcing services
  • 2001 - Launched Internet Client Access reporting systems for Debt Collect and SoftCall services
  • 2002 - First commercial receivable management firm certified to the COPC-2000® Standard
  • 2002 - Established office in Beijing, China
  • 2003 - Launched SoftCall internal and client accessible collection system
  • 2003 - Launched ABC-Amega Inc. -- a global receivable management firm
  • 2003 - Launched European office in Switzerland
  • 2004 - 75th Anniversary
  • 2005 - Formed FCIB-China in conjunction with FCIB (An Association of Executives in Finance, Credit and International Business)
  • 2006 - All ABC-Amega third-party collectors achieve certification as CCAA Senior Certified Collection Professionals
